MKタクシー

　神戸で暮らすようになるまでは、ほとんどタクシーを使ったことはありませんでした。でも、今は車を持っていないこともあり、良心的な料金設定のMKタクシーを時々利用しています。自宅まで迎えに来てもらっても、初乗り550円。関空までの乗り合わせサービスもあり、非常に便利です。

MK taxi
We rarely used taxis before we moved to Kobe. But we do not own a car here and have started to use MK taxis which have fair pricing. Their base fare is 550 yen, even when they are called to pick us up at home. They also provide shared-rides to Kansai Airport and that service is very convenient.

はやぶさ

　映画『はやぶさ』を観ました。地味でひたむきな日本人技術者たちの葛藤の日々が描かれています。娯楽的要素の強いハリウッド映画とは違い、ゆっくり展開するストーリーはとても現実的で、ドキュメンタリー映画のようでした。

はやぶさ：2003年5月日本より打ち上げられた宇宙探査機。2005年夏には小惑星イトカワに到達し、2010年6月に奇跡の生還を果たしたが、途中数々のトラブルがあった。

Hayabusa
Eric and I watched a Japanese movie called “Hayabusa.” It describes the struggles of Japanese engineers who are humble and dedicated. Unlike exciting and entertaining Hollywood movies, the true story develops slowly and realistically just like a documentary record.

Hayabusa: It is a space probe launched from Japan in May, 2003. It reached the asteroid Itokawa in the summer of 2005 and made a miraculous comeback to earth in June, 2010, after many troubles on the way.

ストレス解消

　ちょっとイライラしている自分に気付くことがあります。ストレスの種はどこにでも転がっているから、溜め込まないことが大切です。久しぶりに大声で歌いたい気分になったのに、残念ながら近所にカラオケできるところがありませんでした。がっかり。

Stress release
Sometimes, I find myself being stressed. It is important that you do not pile your stress up, because it is everywhere. I felt like singing loudly after a long absence, but I could not find a place for Karaoke in our neighborhood. What a pity.

鶴橋コリアタウン

　私たちは大阪に用事があると、その機会を利用して鶴橋のコリアタウンに行きます。目的はもちろん焼き肉！今回は私が仕事で大阪に行くことになり、夜エリックと友人夫婦と一緒に食事に出かけました。ソウルさながらの街の雰囲気をしっかり楽しんできました。

Korea-town in Tsuruhashi
Whenever we have a chance to go to Osaka, we try to visit Korea-town in the Tsuruhashi district. Our intention, of course, is eating Yakinikku –Korean style BBQ! I had some business in Osaka in the last couple of days; Eric and our friends joined me for dinner. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the place, which felt just like being in Seoul.

出会い

去年、上手に交流を図れなかったインド人の隣人は、いつの間にか引越していました。最近になって、新しい隣人の存在を知り、我が家の夕食にお誘いしました。話を聞けば、オーストラリア在住のご夫婦はエリックの大学の短期プログラムで来日され、今週には帰国されるそうです。「もっと早く知り合えたら、色々話をできたのに！」日本人の奥さんとは故郷も近く、共通点も多いので、この出会いを大切に続けていければと思います。

Meeting
An Indian neighbor, with whom we could not communicate well, left the apartment without informing us. We recently noticed a new couple and invited them to our home for dinner. According to them, they live in Australia, came to Japan for a short-term program at Eric’s college and they are going home this week. “We could have a lot to talk about if we met sooner!” The Japanese wife and I are from the same area and we have quite a bit in common. We hope to cherish this meeting with them.
