Back Pain

It may have started when my job was slowed down and I was released both physically and mentally for the first time since December of last year. My back begun to ache gradually and the pain became so severe, as if there was a 4-inch nail in my left side for a few days. An osteopath, who just came back from an overseas business trip, provided me with a treatment and I could finally roll over in my sleep last night. According to the osteopath, the adhesion of my internal organs is pulling my sacrum*. That explains to me, to some extent, how my left back aches while there is a problem on my right side.

*The sacrum is a triangular shaped part of the spine close to the bottom.

Snowfall
I feel sorry to hear that people are facing inconvenient life for a week due to snowfall where they are not used to such weather. Fortunately, I myself have not experienced living without water or energy supply, but this news reminded me of stocking up more emergency food and some gas for our portable stove.

Emergency food

Eric is away to Laos for about a week from yesterday. I am sure he will have a lot of interesting experiences again.  I am secretly grateful of his absence since my work has been busy and I can cut corners in cooking and other housekeeping for my lone self. I am eating close- to-expiration instant food which I had purchased as emergency food.

Smile
I liked the smile of Aiko Uemura, a Japanese mogul skier. This was her 5th challenge at the Olympics’. Although she did not win a medal this time again, we could see her satisfaction in that refreshing smile- she surely did everything she could. I would like to say “great job” to her.

Full of Box

A lot of vegetables arrived from Hekinan. There are more than 10 kinds, including a cabbage, some daikon radishes and carrots and so on.  I can only imagine how difficult it is to work in a garden in winter since growing vegetables is already hard in nicer seasons. I pictured my parents taking care of each item in cold winds. Everything in the box was carefully washed, cut and tied in servings.

I have boiled and frozen some chrysanthemum coronarium and am using young and tender spinach for enzyme smoothies. I have cooked a bunch of field mustard for a taste of early spring and will be using the cabbage and radishes for salad while fresh. It is my responsibility to enjoy these precious delicious vegetables without any waste in the kitchen.
