今年もノーベル賞の授賞式や晩餐会の様子をテレビで見ました。私が言うのもおこがましいことですが、日本人が国際舞台に登場する際、もっと堂々と振る舞って欲しいと思うことがあります。でも、シャイな態度には実直な日本人らしさが出て、ある意味では良いのかもしれません。

Japanese Character
I saw some scenes of the award ceremony and
the banquet of the Nobel Prize on TV again this year. I should hardly dare to
mention this, but I sometimes think that Japanese people should act more
proudly when they appear on the international stage. In a way, however, such a shy
manner may be representing the character of honest Japanese people pretty well.
