御嶽山

小学生の頃、家族旅行で御嶽山に登りました。空気中に漂う硫黄の臭いを今でも覚えています。今回の突然の噴火には、とても驚きました。去年から噴火による拡大が続いている小笠原諸島の西ノ島とはかなり離れているけれど、何か関係があるのでしょうか？　日本は安全でしょうか？　地球は安全でしょうか？ 

Mt. Ontake 

I climbed Mt. Ontake for a family trip when I was an elementary school kid. I can still recall the smell of sulfur in the air. The eruption this time was so unexpected and I wonder if it is anything to do with the eruption of Nishinoshima, one of the Ogasawara Islands located in a far distance, which has been expanding since last year.  Is Japan safe? Is the earth safe?

帰宅しました。

1週間の出張から戻りました。仕事は大変な部分もあったけれど、東京での滞在を楽しむことができました。 

仕事のひとつとして、お客様と一緒に「はとバス」ツアーに参加しました。行先は皇居と浅草と東京タワー。初めての浅草は、お土産屋さんを覗いたり人形焼を食べたりして、一番面白かったです。滞在最後の夜は予定外で時間が空いたので、ひとりでお寿司を食べ、スカイツリーを見に行きました。 

自宅に戻ったら洗濯物、事務所に戻ったら未処理の仕事が待っていました。ちょっと疲れ気味だけど、週末まであと1日がんばります。 

Back from Tokyo 

I am back from a week-long business trip. There were some tough parts at work, but I did enjoy my stay in Tokyo. 

One of my assignments was to participate in a Hato-bus tour with our guests. The tour included stops at the Imperial Palace, Asakusa and Tokyo Tower.  Asakusa was the most interesting for me since it was my first time there; we enjoyed window shopping at souvenir stores and strolled eating some ningyo-yaki  (mascot shaped cakes). On the last evening of this trip, I happened to have some free time, so I visited Sky Tree after a sushi dinner by myself. 

What was waiting for me were laundry at home and uncompleted work at office. I will push just one more day before the weekend, although a bit tired.

東京へ

明日から1週間の出張です。前回東京へ行ったのが何年前だったか、思い出せないほど久しぶり。お客様を名所にご案内する予定もあるので、実は結構楽しみです。東京での思い出は、神戸に戻ってから、ここでご紹介したいと思います。 

To Tokyo 

I will be out of town for business for a week from tomorrow. It has been a long time and I cannot even remember when I was in Tokyo last time. Actually, I am looking forward to this trip because I will be escorting guests to some popular spots in the city. I plan to share my memories here when I come back in Kobe.

ライオンキング

友だちと劇団四季のミュージカルを観ました。歌や踊りが良かったのはもちろんのこと、私が感心したのは衣装や舞台演出の布の使い方でした。灼熱の太陽、雌ライオンのしなやかな身体、日照りに枯れる池など…。客席に親子連れも多かったのですが、誰もが舞台に惹きつけられていたようで、騒ぐ子どもはいませんでした。 

Lion King

I saw the musical play performed by Shiki Theatrical Company with a friend. We liked the songs and dance of course, but what I was impressed most about was their fabric usage for costumes and stage settings. Scorching sun, lithe bodies of female lions and drying pond with drought and so on. There were many families among the audience, but no child was making noise because everybody was into the play.

月餅

今年は少し早く訪れた仲秋の名月。この夏は不安定な天気が続いていたけれど、今夜はきれいに晴れてくれました。満月を眺めながら、先日エリックが香港で買ってきてくれた月餅をいただきました。中身はあんこ以外にも、くるみやココナッツや柑橘類の入ったものがありました。 

Moon Cakes 

The harvest moon came a bit earlier than usual this year. Although the weather was pretty unstable this summer, this is one clear evening. With the full moon in our sight, we had some moon cakes which Eric brought home from Hong Kong the other day. In addition to regular sweet bean stuffing, there are varieties with walnut, coconut, citric fruit and so on.

兄と妹

兄とは仲の良い兄妹だったのに、お互いに仕事と家庭を持つようになり、疎遠になっていました。去年、兄がタイに単身赴任してからは、お正月に一度会ったきりです。最近になって、両親のことや自動車の購入について相談するために久しぶりに電話で話したら、やはり兄は兄でした。口下手だけど、思いやりはあるのです。 

Brother and Sister 

My big brother and myself used to be close siblings, but our relationship drifted away as we both got jobs and families. We only met once since he moved to Thailand for work away from his family. I had a chance to talk with him on the phone about our parents and my plan of car-shopping recently and it reassured me that he has not changed essentially. He is a man of few words with a good heart.
