この週末にアカデミー賞を受賞した本作を観ました。途中には目を覆いたくなるほど残虐な場面もありましたが、この映画から奴隷制度の真実の一端を学びました。
歴史の大きな波の中では、一人ひとりの意思や努力では変えられない理不尽な出来事が数多く起きてきたことでしょう。それでも生きてさえいれば救われる日も来る、というメッセージには勇気づけられました。
間もなく東日本大震災から3年になります。被災された方たちにも早く心穏やかな日が訪れることを願って止みません。

12 Years a Slave*
We saw this Academy-awarded film this weekend. I learned what
true slavery was, even partially, from this movie with some inhumane scenes which
made my eyes covered at times.
There must have been so many unreasonable things happened in
the big wave of history, no matter how hard each individual wishes or tries.
Still, the message of hope encouraged me; one could be salvaged one day as long
as he is alive.
It will shortly have been 3 years since the Great East Japan
Earthquake. I will continue wishing for the sufferers to have their hearts
healed sooner.
