2020年東京オリンピック招致のときに使われたこの言葉が、今年の流行語に選ばれるように思います。先日、エリックの仕事関係でアメリカ人の来客があり、のり巻きやおでんでおもてなしをしました。高価な食材は何も使わなかったけれど、ひとつずつをゆっくり味わってくださる様子を見て、私の気持ちは伝わったのではないかと思いました。
Omotenashi
The Japanese word “omotenashi,” which means hospitality, was
used at the 2020 Olympic bidding presentation of Tokyo. It may be picked as a
buzzword of the year. We had an American guest from Eric’s work the other day
and I cooked sushi rolls and oden,
vegetable stew in broth. Although I did not use any fancy ingredients, I felt
that my hospitality was appreciated from his way of enjoying every bite of the
food.
